Take an Honors Seminar This Winter Quarter!!
Honors Seminars are 1 unit, Credit/No Credit courses that can be used as an Honors Elective. These seminars are only open to honors students. They are designed to be low stress, low workload but fun and engaging. Seminars meet once a week for 50 minutes. Instructors are some of the best faculty across all colleges. Take advantage of this opportunity that is unique to you as an honors student. Read about the Honors Seminars we are offering this Winter quarter.
Are you planning on taking HNRS 361 or 461 this year?
Remember that we are offering:
HNRS 361 in Fall 23 and WN 24
HNRS 461 in WN 24 and SP24
Important Note About Honors Cross-Listed Courses!!
If you are planning to take an Honors GE this year use the Tentative Course Offerings link on the Honors website to see what Honors courses will be offered. Just because you see a course on your Degree Planner does NOT mean the course will be offered. The Tentative Course offerings list is the most up to date information on what will be offered. Although Honors officially has a lot of cross-listed GEs, many will not offered.
REMEMBER! The only way to get credit for an honors course is if you register under HNRS. Just because a course is cross-listed does NOT mean it is an honors section. Honors sections are only honors sections if you can enroll under HNRS. Otherwise it is NOT an honors section and you will not get honors credit for the course.
Nominate Your Favorite Professor for the Distinguished Teaching Award!!
Have you had a professor that really made an impression on you? Someone you think stands out as amazing instructor? Consider nominating them for Cal Poly's Distinguised Teaching Award. The Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate excellence in teaching at Cal Poly. Only students and alumni, those who have been influenced most by faculty, are eligible to submit nominations. Nominations may be submitted online here and the last day to nominate is November 24, 2023.
Scholarship/Funding Opportunities
Proposals are being accepted for the Baker/Koob Endowments, which support hands-on, project-based learning opportunities for individual students and groups at Cal Poly. All students are invited to apply for funding, which may be used for student support, student and faculty travel, student and faculty expenses associated with participation in student research, group projects, conferences, competitions, and equipment and materials related to student research. Completed proposals, including a letter of support from a faculty advisor, are due electronically to baker-koob@calpoly.edu by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8th.
