The Commons is open during these times:

Monday thru Thursday: 8am to 8pm
Fridays: 8am to 5pm
(Closed on weekends)

Next week we will post information about how the Honors Requirements will and won't change when Cal Poly moves to semesters beginning Fall 2026. Rest assured we are going to make it easy to ensure everyone graduates on time!

Get Your Professional Headshot Photo Taken!

As part of our Professional Roadmap Series, Honors is offering free professional photos to be taken on October 16th, 11:10-12pm in the Commons.

Apply Now to be an Honors Ambassador!

Boost your resume, build your network, and give back to the Honors community! We’re seeking Honors Ambassadors to represent the University Honors Program and help students connect with people, resources, and opportunities. 

4 core responsibilities: 
  1. Introduce yourself in HNRS 100: Introduction to the Honors Community and be a visible point of contact for new students.
  2. Be available in the Honors Commons during Spring Open House to talk with prospective students and families.
  3. Share your Cal Poly contact information on the Honors website with a photo and short blurb so students can reach you.
  4. Provide extra help as needed (peer mentoring support, scheduling logistics, event set-up).
Why apply?
  • Looks great on a resume! Act as an official campus ambassador role with public-facing leadership.
  • Great way to give back! Create welcoming pathways for current and future Honors students.
  • Professional growth! Practice peer support and mentorship.
  • Low time commitment!

Be an Honors Peer Advisor! Applications Due THIS FRIDAY!

The Honors Program is seeking students to be Peer Advisors. This is a 2-3-quarter commitment involving ~2-3 hours per week. Responsibilities include being available in the Honors Commons for Drop-In advising hours 2 hours per week. In addition, Peer Advisors will help with our Honors registration events during the year. To be a Peer Advisor you must have been in the Honors program for at least 1 year. Being a peer advisor will satisfy your Co-Curricular: Teaching/Mentoring requirement.

If interested complete the Honors Peer Advisor Application by October 10th!

Honors Printing Perk!

Every quarter honors students can print for free up to 100 black & white copies and 50 colored copies. The Honors printer is in the Honors Commons. You can stop by between 8:00am to 8:00pm, Monday thru Thursday and 8:00am to 5:00pm on Fridays if you need to print. 

Do you have priority registration for Winter 2026?

Cal Poly provides Special Exception Registration Status (i.e. Priority Registration) to first- and second-year students who are members in good standing in the Honors Program. Students with Special Exception status may register first according to Cal Poly's registration appointment schedule. See module 2.12 of the Canvas Honors Handbook to learn more about the requirements to be in good standing to receive Special Exception status. First years, you will learn more about registration and your Honors Requirements in HNRS 100 this quarter.

Please see the Co-Curricular Experiences link under the Current Students tab for the steps to take to fulfill this requirement. We will post new opportunities that you can consider for fulfilling these requirements as they come up.
