Get Your Work Published!!

The Western Regional Honors Council institution invites Honors students from universities in the region to submit their creative and scholarly work for the May 1, 2022 Edition of The Palouse Review, by the upcoming deadline April 1, 2022. The current, December 1, 2021 Edition and previous editions are available at https://palousereview.wsu.edu/

They accept short fiction, nonfiction, scholarship, poetry, photography & visual art, music, and digital multimedia. This is a great opportunity to have your work published!!!

 

Honors Seminars Are Filling UP!!!!

One unique aspect to being a member of the Honors Program is access to the 1 unit, credit/no credit Honors Seminars taught by the best instructors at Cal Poly. These seminars are designed to be engaging without a heavy workload. Its a chance to learn about something you might not have considered before. Don't pass up this opportunity! Take Advantage of HNRS 265 in Spring22!

HNRS 265 - Research and Information Skills for Honors Students. This is a great 2-unit course to take to fulfil an Honors Elective requirement!

Important Information about HNRS 361 & 461 Next Year!! 

Plan ahead! Next year will will only offer:

HNRS 361 in FA22 & WN23
HNRS 461 in WN23 & SP23

 

If you are graduating in FA22 and planned to take one of these courses in Fall, please contact Dr. J (jjovanov@calpoly.edu

How to Register for HNRS 361 or 461?

If you completed your Track experience (and already received approval by completing the Form in Module 4.4 of the Student Handbook) you can enroll in HNRS 361. If you have completed (or almost completed) your Senior Project in your major you can enroll in HNRS 461. Both of these courses are asynchronous. Enrollment is by permission only. Please email honors@calpoly.edu for a permission number.

Are you ready to take HNRC 200-02 or 03? 

IF you received approval for your Co-Curricular experience and are ready to enroll in HNRC 200-02 (Leadership) or HNRC 200-03 (Teaching/Mentoring) please email honors@calpoly.edu for a permission number. To learn more about how to satisfy the Honors Co-Curricular Experience click on the Co-Curricular Experiences link under Current Students on our website.

CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

See Module 2.8 of the Student Handbook for more information about Honors required Co-curricular experiences. Please see the Co-Curricular Experiences link under the Current Students tab for the steps to take to fulfill this requirement. We will post new opportunities that you can consider for fulfilling these requirements as they come up.

 

Teaching/Mentoring

Still Seeking Honors Learning Assistants!

We are seeking students who are interested in serving as Learning Assistants to Honors courses in Spring 2022 quarter.  If you are interested please complete the Learning Assistant Interest Form by March 7th. Learning Assistant responsibilities will involve assisting a faculty instructor in a particular HNRS course. Responsibilities may include facilitating discussions, preparing course activities, and answering student questions. Learning Assistants will be required to attend the class at its scheduled time.

If you are selected as a candidate, we will be in touch with you about your availability to be a Learning Assistant for a specific course. At the moment we are sorting out which HNRS courses will need Learning Assistants in Spring. If you are selected you can count this as your Teaching/Mentoring Co-Curricular experience!
