We are adding one more HNRS 299 seminar for Fall 2025 because it was so popular.

HNRS 299-07; T 11:10am-12:00pm
Relationships 101
Cheri Love LMFT & Amber Clemmons-Trigueros LMFT
Cal Poly Counseling and Psychological Services

Whether they are serious or casual, romantic or platonic, with colleagues or family or roommates, relationships can be defined in many ways. In the Relationships 101 seminar we will focus on the many aspects of nurturing healthy relationships. We will explore effective communication, relational self-awareness, identification of needs and boundaries, consideration of various cultural experiences and intersecting identities, and how to navigate conflict; all while building community.

Check out all the Honors Seminars we have scheduled for Fall 2025!

Planning your schedule for NEXT YEAR?

We have updated the Tentative Course Offerings link to reflect which Honors courses will be able to offer next year in AY 2025-26. Remember this can change as we add new courses so check back frequently.

Campus Event You Don't Want to Miss!

Co-Hosted by our very own Honors Associate Director, Dr. Kelly Bennion!

Annual San Luis Obispo Out of the Darkness Campus Walk is back!

This gathering will support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's education, research, and survivor support programs. In addition to raising awareness and funds to fight suicide, the walks give those who attend a chance to connect with others and know they are not alone, whether they walk in memory or in support of a loved one or in honor of their own mental health journey.

Register yourself, or as a team, or sign up to volunteer (shifts available from 8:30am-1pm) at afsp.org/SLO.

Teaching/Mentoring

NEW! Dr. J is seeking Learning Assistants to help with HNRS100 in Fall. Any honors student, including current first years, can be a learning assistant! HNRS 100 will meet once per week on Wednesdays 4:10 to 6:00pm. To be a Learning Assistant you will have to leave this time open. Learning Assistants will help facilitate small group discussions during class and help small groups with a series of innovative projects. Students completing their learning assistant assignments receive credit toward their Honors Program requirements (co-curricular mentor requirement and one Honors Program Elective 1.0 unit).

Being a Learning Assistant is a great way to support our Honors Community!

If you are interested in serving as a Learning Assistant for HNRS complete the HNRS Learning Assistant Interest Form by May 22nd!
