Check out our NEW Research & Scholarship Opportunities Page!
With the help of honors student, Shreya Arjun, we now have a Research & Scholarship Opportunities page where you can find information and deadlines on opportunities that are often relevant to our honors community. THANK YOU SHREYA! We will update as new opportunities come up. You can find this link on the honors website under Current Students.
Research Opportunity!
The Bioinformatics Research Group (BIRG Lab) in Frost is recruiting new members this quarter. They are a multidisciplinary lab co-led by Dr. Paul Anderson (Computer Science) and Dr. Jean Davidson (Biology). They welcome students from many majors, including computer science, biology, statistics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and more. No prior experience is required; if you are new to biology, statistics, or computer science, we would love to have you and will help you get started. Their group works on a range of research projects, each overseen by faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate mentors. Some of their current topics include cancer diagnostics, protein structure prediction, computational genomics, and transcriptomics. Many other projects are underway, and they are always open to new avenues of research. Members collaborate across many disciplines (very on brand for Honors), and they love having new people stop by. If you are interested, please reach out, Samuel Kaplan at sfkaplan@calpoly.edu. Participating in this Research Group can be used to complete your Honors Track Requirement.

Important Note About Honors Cross-Listed Courses!!
If you are planning to take an Honors GE this year use the Tentative Course Offerings link on the Honors website to see what Honors courses will be offered. Just because you see a course on your Degree Planner does NOT mean the course will be offered. The Tentative Course offerings list is the most up to date information on what will be offered. Although Honors officially has a lot of cross-listed GEs, many will not offered.
REMEMBER! The only way to get credit for an honors course is if you register under HNRS. Just because a course is cross-listed does NOT mean it is an honors section. Honors sections are only honors sections if you can enroll under HNRS. Otherwise it is NOT an honors section and you will not get honors credit for the course.
Attention Seniors!
If you are graduating this year and have not yet taken HNRS 361 please consider taking it this Fall 25. Remember we only offer:
Need a Permission Number?
If you have completed a Co-curricular or Track experience and are ready to take HNRC 200-02, HNRC 200-03 and/or HNRS 361 email honors@calpoly.edu for permission numbers.
Planning your schedule for THIS YEAR?
The Tentative Course Offerings link reflects which Honors courses will available this AY2025-26. Remember this can change as we add new courses so check back frequently.
