Have you ever experienced a break-up?

Dr. J is continuing her research on the significance of intimate relationships in emerging adulthood and wants to learn more about the ending of relationships. If you have experienced a break-up and are willing to share your experience, consider completing this anonymous on-line survey. Thanks!

Are you a Student Assistant on Campus?

From Honors student, Ethan Gutterman: The CSU Employee's Union (CSUEU) is attempting to gather support from student assistants on campus to form a union! Right now, student assistants at Cal Poly and across the CSU receive no free and/or reduced parking costs, have no job security and can be fired at any time, do not receive the 8 free credits a quarter like the members of the CSUEU, have no benefits such as healthcare access or 401k investments, do not receive sick days or any other form of paid time off. Fill out CSU Student Workers Union Authorization Form to show your support for the union vote. This form is not asking for you to join the union, or even if you do or do not support it. It simply is saying that you support the right to vote on having a union or not. Please only complete this form if you are a student assistant, meaning you DO NOT work for the Cal Poly Corporation such as in Campus Dining or work for ASI such as in the Rec.

If you are not a student assistant and want to show support, ask your friends if they are student assistants and send them the form! Please reach out to Ethan Gutterman egutterm@calpoly.edu if you would like to get involved with organizing to expand access to workers’ rights and benefits at our campus.

Teaching/Mentoring

NEW! We are seeking students who are interested in serving as Learning Assistants to Honors courses in Fall 2023 quarter.  If you are interested please complete the Learning Assistant Interest Form by June 2nd. Learning Assistant responsibilities will involve assisting a faculty instructor in a particular HNRS course. Responsibilities may include facilitating discussions, preparing course activities, and answering student questions. Learning Assistants will be required to attend the class at its scheduled time.

If you are selected as a candidate, we will be in touch with you about your availability to be a Learning Assistant for a specific course. At the moment we are sorting out which HNRS courses will need Learning Assistants in Fall. If you are selected you can count this as your Teaching/Mentoring Co-Curricular experience!

Dr. J is seeking Learning Assistants to help with HNRS100 in Fall. Any honors student, including current first years, can be a learning assistant! HNRS 100 will meet once per week on Wednesdays 4:10 to 6:00pm. To be a Learning Assistant you will have to leave this time open. Each Learning assistant will be assigned as a mentor to 1 or 2 small groups of the incoming freshmen in the class. Learning Assistants will help facilitate small group discussions during class and help their small groups with an innovative quarter-long project. Students completing their learning assistant assignments receive credit toward their Honors Program requirements (co-curricular mentor requirement and one Honors Program Elective 1.0 unit).

Being a Learning Assistant is a great way to support our Honors Community!

If you are interested in serving as a Learning Assistant for HNRS complete the HNRS Learning Assistant Interest Form by May 15th (Class Schedule for Fall 2023 is available May 19th)
