Seeking Learning Assistants for HNRS 100 in Fall 2023!!
Dr. J is seeking Learning Assistants to help with HNRS100 in Fall. Any honors student, including current first years, can be a learning assistant! HNRS 100 will meet once per week on Wednesdays 4:10 to 6:00pm. To be a Learning Assistant you will have to leave this time open. Each Learning assistant will be assigned as a mentor to 1 or 2 small groups of the incoming freshmen in the class. Learning Assistants will help facilitate small group discussions during class and help their small groups with an innovative quarter-long project. Students completing their learning assistant assignments receive credit toward their Honors Program requirements (co-curricular mentor requirement and one Honors Program Elective 1.0 unit).
Being a Learning Assistant is a great way to support our Honors Community!

Join the Honors CENG Slack Workspace!
CENG student in HNRS 461 have created a Slack page to help connect honors students in the College of Engineering find others with the same extracurricular interests and hobbies. Join the Slack Workspace so that you can join specific channels about your interests and send a message in there if you want someone to hike with, want a baking recipe recommendation, want to share an awesome song you heard recently, etc.! Submit your creative work to the Honors Newsletter Contest! Due THIS FRIDAY!
The Honors Newsletter is hosting a creative contest to showcase student artwork/photography in the Spring 2023 Newsletter publication! The theme for this contest is "Move." Please interpret and incorporate this theme in your work however you best see fit; the theme is merely a guide, the point is to be creative! The top 3 submissions will be featured in the Newsletter. Please email ckeely@calpoly.edu if you have any questions. The winning submission will receive a $50 gift card!

Do you have priority registration for Fall 2023?
Cal Poly provides Special Exception Registration Status (i.e. Priority Registration) to first- and second-year students who are members in good standing in the Honors Program. Students with Special Exception status may register first according to Cal Poly's registration appointment schedule. See module 2.12 of the Canvas Honors Handbook to learn more about the requirements to be in good standing to receive Special Exception status. If you do not meet the requirements you will not have special exception status for Spring!
NOTE: If you are a 2nd year student you will NOT have Special Exception for Fall. Your last eligibility was for Spring 2023.
First round registration for students with Special Exception starts if May 19th!
Attention First Year Honors Students!!! Mandatory First Year Check in! Starts THIS WEEK!
To ensure you have a plan and are making good progress toward your Honors Requirements, we are requiring all first years to meet with a Student Assistant this quarter. Before meeting with the Student Assistant fill out the 4-Year Check List. You can indicate on the checklist when you plan to complete certain requirements and what you think you will do for your Track and Co-Curriculars. Bring the form with you to your check in and have the Student Assistant sign and collect the form. First years who do not complete a check in this quarter will not receive Special Exception (i.e. priority registration) for Winter 2024. Check ins will be held during Week 5 - Week 9 in the Commons and Nipumu.

The Cal Poly Honors Program wants to make this process as simple as possible for all of its students. The program will keep track of and sign off on all of your hours; just complete this attendance form when you volunteer.
