The University of Hawai'i, Manoa is dedicated to offering students a world class education in a Native Hawai'ian place of learning. As a study away student in the Honors program, you will have an opportunity to take an upper division course eligible for Honors credit focusing on Native Hawaiian studies. In addition to this core course, you will have access to other courses offered by the Honors Program as well as Honors sections of courses taught by a variety of academic departments.

You will also be invited to join service opportunities designed for Honors students. These may include visiting coastal fishing areas or farms using traditional agricultural approaches and sustainable practices.

To complement the Honors curriculum, there are numerous opportunities to connect with UH Mānoa Honors students. The university's National Student Exchange (NSE) staff will connect with you virtually before you arrive at Mānoa, and once you're in Mānoa, include you in orientation events. Since UHI, Manoa is one of the most popular universities in the National Student Exchange program, the orientation will connect you to over 200 students from across the country who are also doing a study away semester. The UHM Student Life and Development program offers outdoor recreation opportunities including diving, surfing, kayaking, and hiking.

The University of Hawai'i, Mānoa campus is an arboretum, situated in a verdant upland valley just 5 miles from the beach. As a comprehensive university, you will find a broad variety of courses and majors. Some of their many areas of specialization include indigenous studies, Hawaiian studies, Pacific Islands studies, Asian studies and Pacific and Asian regional public health, marine biology and oceanography, tropical agriculture, tropical medicine, astronomy, electrical engineering, volcanology, comparative philosophy, and comparative religion.
