Seeking Honors Student Assistants for 2022-2023!

The Honors Program is hiring paid Student Assistants to work part-time next year in the Honors Program office beginning Fall 2022. Rate of pay is $15 per hour. The positions are for one academic year with the possibility of renewal. If interested, please complete the application below.  For full consideration, please submit your application by Friday, April 15, 2022. Honors student applicants must be "in good standing" with the Honors Program to be considered. IMPORTANT! First Year Check In

Attention first year Honors Students!! To ensure you have a plan and are making good progress toward your Honors Requirements, we are requiring all first years to meet with a Peer Advisor anytime this quarter. Before meeting with the peer advisor fill out the 4-Year Check List. You can indicate on the checklist when you plan to complete certain requirements and what you think you will do for your Track and Co-Curriculars. Bring the form with you to your peer advising meeting and have the Peer Advisor sign and collect the form. First years who do not complete a check in this quarter will not receive Special Exception (i.e. priority registration) for Winter 2023.

We are happy to have Emily Becker, Annie Kettman, and Kara Sawamura as our Spring 22 peer adivisors! To learn more about Emily, Annie and Kara and find out when and where they will be available for drop-in advising check out the Peer Advising link.

Campus/SLO Events You Don't Want to Miss!!  

NEW! SLO Hacks 2022 is a 24-hour Hackathon taking place during the weekend of April 9th - 10th. It is open to college students of all majors and skill levels, and we will be having people from other colleges competing as well. This is an awesome opportunity for students to get coding experience, make new memories, and win some cool prizes. Free food for the duration of the event, so there is no reason you shouldn't participate! Follow them on Instagram (@slo_hacks) for more information.

NEW! SLO Film Festival! A premiere 6-day event, the annual SLO Film Fest hosts contemporary and classic independent film screenings in a wide variety of venues including Fremont Theatre, Palm Theatre, and a variety of venues from Paso Robles to Morro Bay. This year, the festival is taking place in an in-person format during the week of April 26th- May 1stand a virtual format the following week. Attendees can choose from a variety of pass packages or buy tickets for individual films that catch their eye (student discount available for Cal Poly students). This year's festival program boasts dozens of documentary features, narrative features, and shorts showcases—needless to say, there is truly a film for everyone!

Please consider nominating your favorite faculty and 2 graduating seniors for the following awards. Descriptions are included in the nomination form links below. Nominations DUE MAY 1ST.

Help Support an Honors Student in their Research!

WHO: 18+, LGBTQ+ individuals, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Students, Social Media account holder(s).
WHAT: 25-30 minute interviews of LGBTQ+ individuals and their experiences on social media.
WHEN: Spring Quarter 2022!
WHERE: Interviews will be via zoom.
WHY: Researching if social media usage changes as LGBTQ+ identity develops.
