honors international seminar - spring 2009
Course Description
This Honors seminar will consist of a loosely mediated group discussion seminar about topics relevant to members of the human race. Dr. Barbara Andre will be the course facilitator.
Learning Objectives
- Identify challenges that people face in communication with others over cultural, geographical, and language barriers.
- Develop effective methods of communication that overcome cultural, geographical, or language barriers.
- Develop an understanding of current international issues.
- Expose students to a wide range of cultures and ideas.
- Allow students to work closely with the international students studying at Cal Poly.
- Work in peer groups to come up with solutions to problems and challenges that the international community faces.
- Expose students to opportunities that exist in the international community including travel, study abroad, internships, service learning, and careers.
